Des imams plaident en faveur d’une fatawa interdisant l’esclavage

altDes imams « haratines » ont plaidé en faveur de la promulgation, par les oulémas mauritaniens, d’une fatwa claire et sans équivoque interdisant toute pratique esclavagiste.
Ces imams, qui s’exprimaient mardi après-midi au cours d’une conférence de presse, ont dénoncé « l’existence en Mauritanie de l’esclavage, malgré que le pays n’a pas connu de guerre sainte dans son histoire pour que l’on se permette de soumettre deshommes à l'exploitation».
Les imams ont, tout de même, expliqué qu’il n’est pas question, pour eux, de renier la soumission ( Estirghagh) si elle se passe dans les conditions édictées par la charia islamique, «ce qui n’est pas le cas de l’esclavage en Mauritanie».
Dans une intervention, l’imam M’Barek Ould Mahmoud, « les haratines ont été victimes d’injustice au nom de l’Islam qui, dans ses fondement, est la religion venue pour libérer les hommes et les rendre égaux et non pour privilégier une partie de la société au détriment d’un autre ».
Ould Mahmoud poursuivra que cette frange de la société (haratines) revendique la liberté et la justice et la levée du déni de justice qu’elle n’a cessé de subir au nom de la religion. « Cette même religion qui n’a à aucun moment favorisé l’esclavage », a-t-il souligné.
Ces imams ont appelé le gouvernement mauritanien à faire preuve de plus de rigueur dans l’application de la loi incriminant l’esclavage en vue d’éradiquer, le plus vite possible, ce phénomène « exécrable ».
