Affaire Biram Ould Dah, dépassionnons le débat ! par Abou H. Sy

altMalgré, l'émoi feint ou sincère qu'elle a pu générer, l'incinération de livres religieux par l'IRA a le mérite de poser un vaste débat qu'on ne peut plus continuer à ignorer.

En effet, le tollé général soulevé par ce acte met à nu le caractère primitif de notre démocratie, l'étroitesse d'esprit de nos intellectuels et l'hypocrisie de nos Hommes politiques.

Est il besoin de rappeler, qu'une démocratie ne se résume pas a des partis politiques qui concourent au pouvoir le temps d'une élection ou a des institutions modernes de gestion des affaires de la cité. Mais un processus, dont le but ultime est de permettre au citoyen de jouir de la plénitude de sa liberté. Liberté d'expression, de manifestation, d'association, de culte ...Et c'est à l'aune de cette liberté que se mesure la maturité d'une démocratie.

Dans une démocratie normale, incinérer un drapeau, une œuvre artistique ou littéraire, un ouvrage religieux ... est une forme d'expression: un "free speech" garantie par la constitution. Quoi que cela puisse être choquant la seule riposte permise est la désapprobation. Nul ne doit être soumis à la vindicte populaire pour avoir exprimé son opinion. En cela, l'arrestation de Biram et ses camarades constitue une dérive autoritaire dangereuse. Une justice fonctionne suivant des règles clairement établies par le législateur et non par émotion ou par coup de tête et ne peut prêter à aucun subjectivisme. Le même esprit qui a guidé cette arrestations peut conduire à la lapidation d'une négro-africaine par ce qu'elle n'est pas correctement habillée au goût de certains.
